The Scoop on Poo…
Soil health is integral to growing happy, healthy plants full of vitality, making compost a key component of our regenerative farming practices. Our herd of cattle, along with various biodynamic preparations, makes for potent compost material that is made right here on the farm. We nurture our compost pile (shown above) from the end of the previous summer, through the fall and winter seasons, until it is eventually applied in our greenhouse seed trays and on our fields in the spring. Even when the temperatures drop to single digits, the compost pile stays cooking at a nice and cozy 150 degrees, making it the perfect environment for microbial life to thrive. A natural, living powerhouse that will feed and enliven our entire farm; it's a full-circle process.
