Notes From the Farm Summer '24

It's been a great growing season so far and we have been fortunate to harvest a large amount of organic plant material from our Central Oregon farm.

Post harvest, you can find us working on our one-of-a-kind wash line where we prep the plants and roots for two very different purposes. The material will either be set in alcohol for extraction or dehydrated for storage and future processing, depending on the finished product.

The wash line has various functions:

One part separates dirt mechanically before it gets wet in our wash tanks. After three separate spins in each wash tank, the plants have been thoroughly cleaned.  Our wash line also has a mechanism that will shred the roots, cutting them into smaller pieces for future use if needed.

Then the plant material goes on the de-watering conveyor to remove any remaining water before it's packaged for shipment or put it into the dryer. Depending on the plant, the end product and how long it takes to dry, the raw material can remain here for 2-3 days before we deliver it to our nearby manufacturing facility.
